Our New Digital Cutter

Posted by Scott on 4 May 2017

Digital CutterAfter Five great years with an earlier model we are pleased to announce our new Esko Kongsberg C44 Digital Cutter. Many years ago all the finishing (trimming and cutting) was done by hand, and while it worked we just couldn't cope with the volume. Moving on we have really streamlined our systems as evident in our very quick, high volume turnaround times, just not possible back then. The new cutter in some ways is more of the same. The real benefits are in the backend.

Loving the latex!

Posted by Scott on 3 September 2014

IMG Latex360aThere have been a few exciting changes happening over the last couple of months. In our drive to provide better quality and more sustainable printing, we’ve added two brand new shiney printers, HP Latex 360’s to be precise. They're pretty cool… HP latex technology provides all the durability qualities of solvent inks (the mainstay ink for tough durable prints), but without all the environmental nasties the solvent inks provide as a trade off for toughness. Better still, the latex system is odourless and far more reliable than the solvent systems we have owned in the past. The printers are more consistent with quality output and less prone to nozzle blockage issues we suffered in the past with our solvent printers.

We continue to follow our path of innovation with the installation our our newest printer. This HP Latex 3000 is the third generation of HP's industrial line of latex printers and has just been released worldwide. It has exceptional speeds and the odourless latex prints are ready to go straight off the printer making them perfect for sensitive environments like office and retail spaces. It's exciting to have a machine of this calibre right here in Christchurch.

Adobe CS6 Ready

Posted by Scott on 30 January 2013

For those of you who have purchased or upgraded to Creative Suite 6 feel free to send us files in that version. We have updated our prepress department to be fully compatible with your latest design files. Be sure to check out our file preparation form to ensure that you will get the absolute best quality possible for your job. We still highly recommend sending native files and links over pdf files where possible. Our aim is to produce the best possible image quality and we need native files to achieve this for many projects. Keep the files coming...

Perfect Backlits

Posted by Scott on 31 January 2012

We now offer the absolute best in illuminated printing. Often backlits are let down by dull colours, washy blacks and shadows or colour casts (when an image looks slightly yellow or green etc) which ruin a great image. Up until now we've used in-house developed techniques to get great backlits with densities that don't wash out when the lights are on, but this was never completely reliable. We had a new addition late last year in the form of a spectrophotometer. The great thing about this new model is that it does transmissive readings.

Impressive 360

Posted by Scott on 21 November 2011

Our latest piece of kit has arrived. This is an Oce Arizona 360 GT mid-range flatbed printer, just recently released. It is a great addition and fills the need we had for very high detail direct to substrate printer. The resolution and sharpness of the images that come of this printer is truly fantastic. The 360 also has a white printing system where the white is printed in-line as opposed to our old system which printed white as a separate print to the colour content. What that means is we can print white 'as needed' and printing is faster. We'll get busy building profiles to make sure the colour output is on the mark and images have excellent contrast and shadow detail.

Greening Digital Printing

Posted by Scott on 15 June 2011

HP Scitex LX850 Latex ink Printer
We'd like to introduce a recent addition to our line-up. HP in recent years have been pushing more environmentally conscious large format digital printing solutions. One of their biggest drives has been latex ink printers. Surprise surprise, the picture above happens to be one. The environment is not exactly being kind to us at the moment here in Christchurch, but we are still looking to improve our stance towards it. The HP Scitex LX850 uses waterbased latex ink, yet the finished prints are comparable to mild and eco solvent as far as scratch reststance and durability goes. It's our second latex machine. Without boring you to death with details, we get high resolution prints (truly stunning), with brilliant colour, durable for indoor and outdoor use including vehicles and then add to that the fact it does a great job on fabrics which is enhanced by it's ability to image on material up to to 3.2 metres wide (that's billboard size!!!).

New Fabric Printer

Posted by Scott on 7 April 2011

Mutoh fabric printer        Out with the old and in with the new. We have retired our fleet (x2) of sublimation printers and replaced them with this brilliant machine. It's the latest release from Mutoh for soft signage printing. It has some great features that increase our diversity and quality. The first is wave technology. The machine has an unique way of laying down the ink to elimainate banding - stripes which appear on images due to media feed or ink bleeding problems. It does this by laying down the ink in a wave pattern. Another feature really like is that it's built for production runs and high quality printing. If you need hundreds of metres in a hurry, then no problem - we can deliver. Another feature really like is the ability to print directly to fabric. It's loaded with a dual ink to give us the best of both worlds. Why do we need dual ink?
