Dressed in See-through
3M IJ8150 Optically Clear Film lets us splash full-colour art straight onto glass without blocking the view. Unprinted areas stay near-invisible, so graphics appear to float while daylight pours through. Printed sections glow like modern stained glass, and with layered white ink we can create anything from soft tinting to full privacy. The 2 mil cast vinyl is crystal-clear, bug-resistant and won’t yellow. A low-tack adhesive keeps installs tidy and removes cleanly, and the matching overlam delivers years of scratch and UV protection.
Storybook Windows for Telling Tales
The brief
Children’s bookstore Telling Tales asked us to turn the cover of A Perfect Wonderful Day with Friends into a full storefront graphic. The artwork had to span a set of doors and windows while keeping vision into the shop.
Our solution
3M IJ8150 Optically Clear Film was the perfect choice. We re-formatted the book cover to fit it's new landscape dimensions, stripped the background so clear areas stayed see-through, and printed it on our HP R2000 in sandwich mode (colour / white / colour) so the imagery shows on both sides of the glass. That's right, the image has been printed so it can be enjoyed from inside and out, how cool is that! The final touch was a protective laminate to ensure years of service without ink scratching or fading.
The result
From inside or out, shoppers are met with supersized storybook illustrations while still seeing through to book-filled shelves and beyond. Crystal-clear film, vibrant colour, no inviting edges for fingers to pick - job done.
