Election Signs With Less Waste

Election signs need to be practical. They have to go up quickly, handle the weather, and work across a lot of locations without blowing the budget. That is why corflute is still such a common choice.

But there is another part of the job that matters just as much. What happens when the campaign is over?

When we print your corflute signs, we can take them back once they have done their job and send them to Future Post to be recycled into fence posts. It is a simple way to keep used signs out of landfill and think about the full life of the job, not just the printing stage.

Printed. Used. Recycled.

We are not here to pretend corflute has no place. It absolutely does. For many election campaigns, it is still the most sensible option. It is lightweight, cost-effective, quick to produce, and well suited to temporary outdoor signage. When you need good visibility across multiple sites, corflute often does the job very well. The difference is what happens afterwards.

Instead of treating used signs as waste, we can build the return step into the job from the start. Once the signs come down, they can come back to us and go into the Future Post recycling stream.

One important thing to know about take-back

We can only take back signs that we produced ourselves. We sometimes hear from people who are left with stacks of old signs printed elsewhere. Usually the supplier that made the signs did not offer any plan for taking them back at the end. We understand why people call us, but we cannot bring outside signs into our own take-back programme.

It is much easier to make a better decision at the start than to try to solve the problem once the campaign is over.

When corflute is still the right choice

Corflute remains a strong option for election signage, especially when you need a practical material for roadside sites, temporary installs, and larger campaign runs.

It is usually the right fit when you need:

  • a lightweight sign that is easy to install
  • something suitable for short-term outdoor use
  • a fast turnaround
  • a cost-effective option for larger quantities

Other better-choice options worth considering

There are alternatives to corflute that use recycled material and may suit jobs where reuse or responsible disposal matters more. That is where more of our A Better Choice range comes in. These options usually cost more than corflute, but depending on the job, they may be the better long-term choice.

Retex for reusable rigid signs

Retex is a thick board made from recycled textile waste, not virgin plastic. It is a good option when you want a sign that can handle outdoor use. For election work, it will suit outdoor signage such as campaign signs. Where corflute is often chosen for short-term volume, Retex makes more sense when you want a fully circular programme. It costs more upfront, but that can stack up differently when corflute doesn't fit the bill.

KATZ for outdoor display signs

KATZ is a recyclable fibre-based display board that works well for outdoor graphics where appearance matters and you want to avoid plastic. This can be a strong choice for campaign displays, promotional pieces, hanging signs, and other applications where you want something tidy, well-finished, and more considered than corflute. It is not a direct replacement for every outdoor election sign, and it is important to use it in the right setting. But for the right part of a campaign, it can be a very good fit.

Kavalan for PVC-free banners

Sometimes the better option is not a rigid sign at all. Sometimes it is a banner. Kavalan is a PVC-free banner material that suits fence banners, campaign backdrops, large promotional graphics, and other flexible signage where a rigid panel is not the best tool for the job. That makes it worth considering when you want a large format option with a lighter environmental footprint than traditional PVC banner material. Like the other products in our better-choice range, it is not about claiming one material solves everything. It is about choosing the right product for the right use.

The best choice depends on the job

That is really the main point.

  • If you are on a tight budget and need plenty of signs, corflute may still be the best fit, especially when we can take it back afterwards for recycling.
  • If you need a sturdy full circle recylable board, Retex may be the better option.
  • If you need a well-finished display piece, KATZ may suit better.
  • If the job calls for a banner rather than a board, Kavalan is worth looking at.

The goal is to choose well, thinking about the whole job from start to finish. What fits best for you?
