IMG Synlait 1

In a single, new open-plan environment, it was important for Synlait to create an atmosphere supporting their values of thinking big, acting now and doing it right. That's where we came into the picture - to produce fantastic graphics and signage.

Master Glass

There is more to window and glass decoration than just etching. Nowadays etching is rarely done with sandblasting, but achieved through the use of self adhesive films. There is a huge range of window films that imitate sandblasting, commonly used with logo elements, striping and patterns to provide safety and privacy. Digital printing and profile cutting has opened a world of opportunities for some pretty cool window effects. In the samples below I demonstrate some ways that windows and glass have been decorated by our customers.

Wide Load Ahead

Why produce a project with welds when you don't need to? When it comes to the really big stuff, most of the production in New Zealand is output on 3.2m capable machines. That means a lot of tiles and welds for a good number of applications. Welds are acceptable for the a lot of grand format applications, but for some you just don't want those joins if you can help it. Using our tried and true HP Scitex 5m grand format printer, we output onto 5m wide rolls of PVC banner, mesh and fabrics. This printer has been instrumental at bringing to life massive prints that are outside the abilities of the 3.2m printers, or for multi tile projects where it has reduced the number of welds required.

Big, Bright And Can't Be Missed

IMG-piko1.jpg

We'll let the pictures do the talking on this one. Big wall, big mural. When Piko Wholefoods had their badly damaged Barbadoes street premises red stickered, they needed to find a new home. You'd be hard pushed to find a person who couldn't find them here. We printed this artwork a few years back for their old premises, but this version is simply stunning. It's printed with latex ink on self adhesive vinyl, laminated with gloss anti-grafitti film and mounted to aluminium composite panels. We also did the front fascia, street pole sign and lightbox.

Keeping The Grain

Here is a great printing job we supplied for the Nando's Riccarton restaurant, which demonstrates printing directly to timber. The concept was to allow the grain of the wood to show through and become part of the graphic. This is a fantastic example of the strength of direct printing, and also using printing with white ink. The window graphic is a clear adhesive film. We used white ink , but not as a flood fill because we wanted a degree of transparency for the colours.

A Matter Of Perspective

This is a great example of using perspective. What was a once a dull stairwell wall is now a treat to the eye. We worked with International Buddhist Association (IBA) Christchurch, to bring their concept to reality. Some careful tweaking was required to get the illusion to work. We produced the image on ACM panels which are fixed to the wall. To help get your head around it, the bottom shot is looking from the top floor, showing the complete mural from ceiling right down to the tiled floor. The first image is taken standing back in the top floor walkway leading to the stairs. The illusion is an extended walkway.

Bring In The Native Flora

IMG-StG6.jpg

The new St Georges Cancer Care Centre was recently opened. It is a $16.5 million state-of-the-art, purpose-built Cancer Care Centre. We were involved with the internal fit-out which you can see in the following photos. Patients are greeted at the entrance by singing native birds from rock speakers placed in the gardens at the entrance. The sound follows them as they go into the building to the reception area where they find native forest murals and special lighting replicating the suns effect. Right through to the treatment areas there are visuals to entertain and occupy visitors and patients as they wait for treatment.
